St. Bees is situated on the West coast of Cumbria – near the Lake District and on the shore of the Irish Sea. The village is famous for the Priory of St. Mary (and St Bega, Cumbrias local Saint) and to hikers as it is the start (or finish) of the Coast to Coast Walk.
This is one walk I have promised myself I would do – it traverses the width of England and is 220 miles long. Maybe this year I’ll undertake it.
St. Bees is one of my favourite places – Shirl and I stay there occasionally and use it as a base to explore the Lake District.
It is a lovely place and there are many long walks along the cliff tops to see the sea birds.
It also has a superb beach – and these shots were taken at dusk on the beach, just after a storm.
