The little village of Kettlewell lies in the heart of the Dales, and every year they have a ‘Scarecrow Festival’ where all the residents are somehow magically transformed in to scarecrows.

There are dozens and dozens of them – on all the street corners, gardens, shops and just generally milling around.

It is great fun and helps raise money for the local school, village hall, St. Mary’s church and other local organisations.

So I took the 2 grandsons (5 and 3) and Shirl and we jumped in the car and set off – it is only about half an hour away. We had a great time – besides it is always fantastic to be out here.

Below is a selection of portraits of the residents.
