On a walk recently I was delighted to see this steam train winding it’s way up through the moors and fells, on it’s long journey to Carlisle.

This line, which travels through some of the remotest and beautiful country in the UK was nearly closed a few years ago, but fortunately the line was saved by a vigorous campaign and now the line is very popular and profitable – I have travelled it a couple of times and the journey is stunning.

There is something magical about boarding a steam train and chugging through the most beautiful countryside in England. Perfect!
