I knew we were due a storm before I set out on my solo walk, but I thought I would be back before it started.

I was going to visit a clump of barren rocks in Nidderdale and I could see the black clouds gathering in the distance, so I didn’t stay long.

Coming back on the moors the storm clouds started to gather and the air grew chill. I could smell the storm – it started to go dark, and the light brought out the beautiful texture of the bracken and the grass on the moors.

I managed to get back to the car just in time…
