Summer is nearly over and the heather, although particularly vibrant this year, is dying. The bracken is turning a russet brown and this is in sharp contrast with the lush greens of the valley bottoms.

I spent a day on the moors last week and as I walked along the moors’ edge to make my way down I was struck at how lovely the greens of the far away hills and Wharfe valley was, particularly after a day spent walking on the dusty moors.
