One thing that reminds me of autumn is when the ducks fly South. That is a sure sign that the weather is getting colder and winter will soon be with us.
I was at the top end of Nidderdale today with a friend when we heard a loud solitary ‘quack’, and looking up we saw the distinctive ‘V’ formation of the ducks flying overhead.
That for me, more than any other sign, is the end of summer and the start of the colder weather.
The ducks have got it right.
