Autumn on the moors – and apart from the colours of the foliage, the light can be amazing as well. Get the time of day right – late afternoon is best, and the light appears rich and golden – thick as honey and just as sweet.

This day I had walked from nearby Addingham to Ilkley, 5 or 6 miles following the lower moor path. And as I got towards Ilkley, the sun was just going down turning the fields a beautiful golden colour, and cloaking the high moors in darkness.
