Miles from anywhere, this ruined building stands all alone on the poisoned moor. Part of the great Grassington lead mining field, the industry employed nearly 200 men, women and children. During it’s heyday between 1821 and 1861 it produced nearly 1000 tons of lead a year.

Now the mines are closed, the shafts and levels are ‘run in’ and the buildings fallen down. A sad testament to a once great industry.
