No modern day plastic or metal signs here – this old wooden post will have guided travellers over the moors for decades.

Situated in a beautiful butย hidden part of North Yorkshire, this post is near an old lead miners track and may have even been erected by the miners. I don’t know how many countless travellers it has guided over the years – but no doubt with good maps and sat navs it is probably no longer needed.

But it stands as a reminder that we haven’t always relied on technology to find our way.
