This is Barden Tower in Wharfedale – a place I know well. The beautiful moors in the distance still have snow on their tops.
One of the things I love about England is that there is so much history. When I first came here from Canada when I was 12, I couldn’t believe how many castles and ruins there were – seemed like there was one every couple of miles, and indeed there are!
The Tower was built in the 15th Century by Henry, 10th Lord Clifford – he preferred it to his powerhouse at Skipton Castle a few miles away.
It is in such a picturesque setting, and has a fascinating history too, with some superb walking all around here.
